About the Film

Filmed in the beautiful countryside of Middle Tennessee, Charlie's War is a story based on the childhood memories of screenwriter, Christy Viviano.  In the film, a successful writer, Charlotte Lewis, is troubled by recurring nightmares set in her childhood.  Trying to understand the meaning of these dreams, she sets out on a journey into the past to retrieve the elusive memories of the time when she lived on her grandmother's farm during World War II.

Much of the action takes place in the past.  Her indomitable grandmother rules the household, which includes five year old Charlie, her mother, Caroline, and her sister, Jobie.

Unable to put the whole story together, Charlotte attempts to find her sister, who does not return her calls.  When Jobie finally shows up, the result is a surprising and satisfying resolution to the story.

The film premiered on seven sold out screens at the Nashville Film Festival. Included among attendees were several special guests, including cast member Vernon Winfrey's daughter, Oprah.

Charlie's War is the first feature film for Nashville based director, David Abbott.  He is well known as a director of music videos and television shows.
